A CONVICT´S TALE: GLOSSARY

Deck: a floorlike surface taking up one level of a hull of a vessel.

Sweat: perspiration.

Despair: loss of hope.

Cheer up: to become or make happier.

Fence: a barrier enclosing or surrounding a field usually made of posts and wire or wood.

Proudly: feeling pleasure or satisfaction over something thought of as bringing credit or honor to oneself.

Tear: to be pulled apart or in pieces by force.

Fear: a distressing emotion aroused by impending, danger, evil, pain,...

UNIT 5: GLOSSARY

Seal: anything that close or secures a thing.

Slice: a thin, flat piece cut from something.

Rinse: to wash lightly, as by pouring water over as a final stage in washing.
